Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® (AKA), an international service organization, was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1908. It is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women. On April 19, 1947. Delta Xi Omega was chartered in Salisbury, North Carolina as the 112th graduate chapter. Under the leadership of the current Mid-Atlantic Regional Director, Nadine Vargas Stewart, Delta Xi Omega continues to soar and strive towards sisterhood to all mankind. 

Delta Xi Omega's mission remains to:

  • to cultivate and encourage high scholastic
  • and ethical standards,
  • to promote unity and friendship among college women,
  • to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature,
  • to maintain a progressive interest in college life,
  • and to be of “Service to All Mankind.”
             









OVERVIEW

Service and sisterhood have been the cornerstone of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® since 1908. With the theme Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood, the 2022-2026 administration seeks to build upon Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s rich legacy of service by galvanizing our sisterhood to lead on the front lines of change, education, and advocacy.
